Introduction

The College of Architecture (COA) - Information Technology Services (ITS) Department is committed to providing support for all computer systems in the COA that are registered through ITS. As part of this commitment to support, ITS purchases community licenses for various software packages and operating systems to provide to the faculty, staff, and students of the College. In addition to supply, ITS also provides technical support for these software packages and operating systems. Below is a brief overview of the software support provided by ITS.

Software Support

ITS works to maintain the software that is designed to work on the supported operating system platforms. This requires the users to maintain the version that will work properly under a currently supported operating system. ITS will provide assistance in updating/upgrading software on user machines to achieve this. When there is no update/upgrade available for a particular software product or when a product has been discontinued, ITS will provide "best-effort" support with the older versions. The user will be recommended to evaluate similar products and transition into this software.

In instances where older or discontinued versions of software are in use, software stability can no longer be guaranteed! As such, users follow ITS recommendations to maintain stability.

Operating System Support

Currently, the ITS Department provides support for the following operating systems.

  • Windows 7
  • Mac OSX 10.6.x - 10.7.x
    Individuals may choose to utilize other operating systems (Windows Vista, 8.1, Ubuntu, etc.), however, ITS cannot guarantee the performance of such operating systems, the compatibility with available software, and ITS may not be able to provide the full extent of technical support for other operating systems.
